Christmas Edition:  Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of my readers.  I want to take a minute and let you know how much I appreciate all of you taking the time to read through my blogs/articles.  Everyday I am amazed at the viewership that my Blog gets. Thank you SO Much. My wish for this Holiday season is for my readers/community to give a little bit back.  I am challenging each and every one of you to help out someone less fortunate than you this Holiday season.  It can be a small as cooking a meal for the senior citizen living next door to you.  It could be donating clothes to a charity.  It could be paying for the groceries of the person behind you at the grocery store.  This is a challenge!  I look forward to hearing your ideas and stories about giving back.  Thank you again.

Alright let’s get to my week 16 quarterback rankings.  Remember I will not be ranking the NFL top 3 Quarterbacks.  That includes Tom Brady, Russell Wilson and Drew Brees.   QUARTERBACK STARTS

  1.  Cam Newton  Buccaneers vs Panthers  —  Cam was terrific against the undermanned defense of the Green Bay Packers last week.  Cam had 300 total yards and 4 touchdowns.  Running the ball is one of Cam best asset .  It has become a very effective offensive weapon, especially near the goal line.  In week 16, Cam gets a Tampa Bay defense that has lost several key starters to injuries in the last few weeks.  Another undermanned defense.  I expect Cam Newton to shred this defense apart.  Get him here!
  2. Alex Smith  Dolphins vs Chiefs  —  Alex Smith is coming off a game in which he completed passes at a better than 75 % rate.  On the season Alex smith has thrown 25 touchdowns.  That is a career high for him.  In order for the Chiefs to secure a playoff berth, Alex Smith and company have to find a way to win this game.  The Miami defense is a middle of the pack group.  I can see Alex Smith throwing a lot of play action passes to Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and check downs to Kareem Hunt.  This could lead to a big statistical day for Smith.
  3. Nick Foles  Raiders vs Eagles  —  Nick Foles filled in admirably for an injured Carson Wentz.  Foles threw for 237 yards and 4 touchdowns against the New York Giants.  Solid numbers in his first start this year.  In the past Foles has shown to be a very good quarterback. He posted a career best 27 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in 2013 with the Eagles.  In week 16 Foles is facing an Raider team on Monday nite that is bottom third is passing yards given up.  It’s a good match up to exploit.  The only caveat is that the Eagles may start benching their starters to get them healthy for a playoff run.  So keep an eye for any news on that front.  I like this match up if he plays.

SLEEPER

Blake Bortles  Jaguars vs 49ers  —  Blake Bortles has really turn it on in the second half of the season.  In his last 3 games he has averaged over 300 yards passing.  In that same time frame he has completed more than 71 % of his passes for  7 touchdowns and zero interception.  Blake’s wide receiving corp is a bit injured but he has found a way to complete passes and win games. In week 16 he faces a 49ers defense that does not pressure the quarterback. On the season 49ers have only sacked the quarterback 26 times, that puts them at 6th worst at getting to quarterback.  This is a defense that Blake Bortles can take advantage of.  That is why he is my sleeper.

SIT

Matt Ryan  Falcons vs Saints  —  Matt Ryan has come crashing down to Earth after a tremendous season last year.  This year Matt Ryan only has 2 300 yard games and only 18 touchdowns.  At this point last year he had 32 touchdowns and 5 games with over 300 passing yards.  The Saints have been a good defensive team all year.  They only allow 213 passing yards per game.  They have 16 interceptions on the year tied for the 4th best total.  The Saints defensive prowess and Matt Ryan struggles is enough for me to bench Matty Ice.
