For those of you that don’t know this title is in reference to a little show called “Friends”. My girlfriend is on a netflix binge and this is the show she is currently engrossed in. I never realized that each and every episode is titled “The One about……”. For those that have never seen the show. It is a sitcom about a group of friends that live in Manhattan. Basically 3 guys and 3 girls become best friends and hilarity ensues. Misadventures and love interest is the theme of the show. It s a good show with lots of laughs and crazy situations. Check it out if you have never seen it. And now…..
The One about Quarterbacks for week 17
Big news coming out of the 816. Pat Mahomes is getting his first NFL career start. Many people in Kansas City have been clamoring for this guy to get into a game. Well now they get their wish. The Chiefs traded up 17 spots in the 2017 draft to secure the services of Pat Mahomes. He has a strong-arm and seems to have knack for making big plays. On the flip side he comes from a spread offense and will need time to adjust to the intricacies of being an NFL quarterback. Welcome to the NFL kid!!!!!
Let’s take a look at the first start of all of the NFL rookie quarterbacks this season:
Mitch Trubisky vs Minn 12/25 for 128 yards 1td 1 int, he added 3 carries for 22 yards.
Deshaun Watson vs Cincy 15/24 for 125 yards 5 carries for 67 yards 1 rushing touchdown.
DeShone Kizer vs Pitts 20/30 for 222 yards 1 touchdown 1 interception 5 carries for 17 yards and 1 touchdown.
C.J. Beathard vs Wash 19/36 for 245 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception and 1 carry for 14.
Nathan Peterman vs Chargers 6/14 for 66 yards he threw 5 interceptions and carried the ball 2 times for 4 yards.
Quick reminder, I will not be ranking the NFL s top 3 guys: No Tom Brady, Drew Brees, or Russell Wilson.
Kirk Cousins @ NY Giants This is a get right game for Cousins and the Washington Redskins. The Giants are not a very good team right now. Giants have been dealing with injuries to star players, firing of a head coach, players causing problems in locker room. Defensively the Giants are bottom third in sacks generated and give up over 260 passing yards per game. I want Cousins on my team this week.
Matt Stafford vs Green Bay Matt Stafford is facing a Green Bay defense that has been over matched this entire season. Injuries have taken its toll on the secondary. Green bay is down to starting guys from their practice squad in the secondary. On the season Green Bay is giving up an average 232 yards per game. Stafford should be able to connect with his wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs and have a good fantasy day.
Tyrod Taylor @ Miami Tyrod Taylor has been very productive this season. He may not be flashy but he seems to always find a way to put up respectable stats. He is facing a Miami team that allows 227 yards per game passing. Miami is a middle of the pack defense, that I think Tyrod can take advantage of.
Jay Cutler vs Buffalo Bills Quarterback sleeper is pretty tough this week. Teams in the NFL have the opportunity to sit or bench players this week and that makes week 17 tough on prognosticators. However Jay Cutler is a 10 million dollar man and he does not have a contract for next year. This is Jay Cutler’s last chance to make a good impression for teams heading into next year. The Buffalo Bills have a middle of the pack defense. They allow 228 passing yards per game. Buffalo has only generated 26 sacks on the season. Cutler should be able to move the ball against this defense. I’m willing to take the gamble on Cutler’s ability to win this game with his arm.
Again this is tough. Many teams cannot improve their playoff seedings. This means that NFL teams can rest their starters. And prepare for the upcoming playoffs. This group of players includes several quarterbacks that are either sitting out or are going to play limited snaps. Blake Bortles, Alex Smith, Joe Flacco, And Jared Goff are on the list of potential starters that are either sitting out or gonna get limited playing time in week 17. That makes these guys sits in my book.
Good Luck in you fantasy endeavors I hope you all win. Thank you for reading. Please checkout my other articles and blogs. That is it for week 17 Quarterbacks.
