For those of you that don’t know this title is in reference to a little show called “Friends”. My girlfriend is on a netflix binge and this is the show she is currently engrossed in. I never realized that each and every episode is titled “The One about……”. For those that have never seen the show. It is a sitcom about a group of friends that live in Manhattan. Basically 3 guys and 3 girls become best friends and hilarity ensues. Misadventures and love interest is the theme of the show. It s a good show with lots of laughs and crazy situations. Check it out if you have never seen it. And now…..
THE ONE ABOUT WIDE RECEIVERS FOR WEEK 17
Just a quick reminder. I will not be ranking the NFL’s top 3 wide receivers. That includes DeAndre Hopkins, Julio Jones, or Aj Green. Also week 17 presents us with a unique situation in which a bunch of team are sitting their star players. But I will cover those guys in the Sit section of this article. This is an opportunity for some young guys to step up and gain valuable playing time.
T.Y. Hilton vs Texans T.Y. Hilton is a boom or bust type of player that I tend to stay away from. However this week he is facing a Texans team that doesn’t have an answer for Hilton. In the week 9 game, Hilton amassed 5 catches for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hilton needs 48 more yards to reach 1000 for the 5th consecutive year. He is averaging a career best 17.6 yards per reception. That is the 2nd best mark among wide receivers with 50 or more catches. This is one match up that I can comfortable say to start T.Y. Hilton
Larry Fitzgerald @ Seahawks Larry Fitzgerald is the oldest player in NFL history to record a 100+ catch and 1000 yards season. He still got it at 34. Having collect 101 receptions Larry has been the lone bright spot for a struggling Cardinals team. The Cardinals can knock the Seahawks out of a playoff spot by beating them. The best way to do that is to feed your best player!!!!! Go EAT Larry Fitzgerald.
Jarvis Landry vs Bills Jarvis Landry has been a points per reception monster. He has collected 103 balls for 895 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns on the season. He has secured almost 27% of the market share of targets in Miami. That means Jay Cutler and company look for Jarvis Landry to move this offense. The last time these teams met, Landry had 10 catches for 99 yards. I can see Landry producing similar numbers in this game. Get him here.
I am going to approach this a little bit differently. With NFL teams sitting a bunch of wide receivers, this open up some playing time for young unproven players. In an effort to sort through this madness, I am going to list a few guys that I can see contributing this week.
Keelan Cole Jax @ Titans
Jamison Crowder Wash @ Giants
Demarcus Robinson Chiefs @ Broncos
Josh Reynolds Rams vs 49ers
Michael Clark Packers @ Lions
Now here is where it gets tricky. Like I said week 17 is a unique situation in which teams sit a lot of players for various reasons. We already know that Sterling Shepard, DeAndre Hopkins, Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams, Antonio Brown, Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, and Marquise Lee are out for this week. We can also expect that a few guys will be limited in their playing time. Players such as Tyreek Hill, Alshon Jeffery, Dez Bryant, JuJu Smith-Schuster,and Martavis Bryant could all see their snaps limited this week. This is a tough week to be playing fantasy football.
That is all the time I have. I hope you enjoyed this article/blog. Please check out my other ones for week 17. If you have questions or comments please leave below.
